April 5th, 2017, FAST participated on the Cocoa for the Americas: A reward path to trade and development in Ottawa, Canada. The event was hosted by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA) Delegation Canada, the Embassy of Peru in Canada and with the support of Finance Alliance for Sustainable Trade (FAST), Uniterra, TFO Canada, Agricultural Ministry of Peru and International Development Research Center (IDRC).
The objective is to showcase investment, trade and development opportunities in Peru's cocoa sector and to raise awareness on the role of cocoa production and processing time in rural livelihoods. The Peruvian market has actively been working on the cultivation and production of high-quality cocoa in the direction of entering the competitive international landscape. Among the topics discussed, were the importance of the industry development in Peru and the access to international markets, making the Canadian market, a priority.
Noemi Perez, FAST's (CEO & President) and Mauricio Rosemary (Director of Business Development) had the opportunity to discuss some viewpoints with Mrs. H.E Marcela Lopez Bravo (Ambassador of Peru) in which, they agreed on the importance of small producers in the region to access finance. They had the opportunity to share the latest news about AXiiS, FAST's innovative online matchmaking platform which enables matchmaking between impact investors, such as financial service providers (FSPs), and credit-ready small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the sustainable agriculture and forestry sectors. Thus, enabling loans and credits to grow SME s and diversify their investment portfolio, giving a greater impact to built the livelihoods of those in their community.
Through an easy 5-step process, being the most important feature the blind profile based on their initial request and needs. Today, AXiiS, has profiled Financial Service Providers (FSPs) a combined $6 billion USD in assets under management available to invest in SMEs in emerging economies.
