The Finance Alliance for Sustainable Trade (FAST) is pleased to announce the appointment of Raúl Gómez Velásquez as the organizations new Executive Director. FAST is a non-profit dedicated to improving access to finance for sustainable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) worldwide.
“We’re exceptionally pleased that Raúl has taken on this role” said Noemi Perez, FAST’s outgoing leader of FAST. “Raúl brings extensive experience in finance and technology and plans to implement innovative strategies to reduce costs and scale FAST’s access to finance programs. He is ideally positioned to take FAST to the next level, deepening our reach and impact. I thank all FAST members and partners who have supported the organization since its inception and ask for their renewed support going forward” she went on to say.
Raúl brings with him over 20 years experience managing large, complex programs focused on financial inclusion in developing and transitional countries. His project expertise includes product development, business process management, design & set up of new business models, digital financial services, and branchless banking agents. Raúl has served an international client base in countries across Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, providing technical advice on the delivery of digitally based, data driven, client -centered financial products and services. He has successfully improved efficiency, reduced costs and created growth for the financial service providers he has served.
As an expert in the field of finance, Raúl has played an active role at a global level; presenting in conferences, discussion forums, training programs, and other knowledge sharing and networking events to promote access to finance and digital financial services for micro, small & medium enterprises (MSMEs). Raúl comes to FAST with high-level leadership experience including serving as Executive Global Director IT & Quality at Pro Mujer International and Senior Director of International Operations at ACCION International.
Raúl is excited to join the FAST team. “In my new role, I hope to integrate new digital technology into FAST’s program plan, which will further our reach and improve access to finance for SMEs around the world” he said. “I will continue working closely with financial service providers and FAST members to deploy existing resources and develop financial products and services adapted to the demand” he went on to say.
The FAST Board of Directors would like to thank Noemi Perez for her years of dedication, commitment, perseverance and leadership. “She has thoughtfully served FAST for more than a decade and was instrumental in the organization’s success and growth in that time” said Francisco Bolio, Chairman of the Board of Directors of FAST. “The Board of Directors welcomes Raul, we are confident that he will take the global organization to the next level of growth and expansion of services”.
